How to play.
Match six movies to six categories in three takes.
Make your matches
- Play. Reveal the board and start the clock.
- Place. Drag a movie to a category, or tap the movie, then the category.
- Check. Green fits. Red needs a recast. Three failed takes means a loss, with the answers revealed.
Use every movie once. A film may fit several clues, so think about the whole lineup.
Moving & undoing
Move a placed movie to swap it, or drag it back to unassign it. Clear wrong clears red matches and keeps green ones. Green movies can still move.
Undo reverses a move or clear, not a submitted take. Keyboard: Tab to a movie, press Enter or Space, then activate a category.
Aim for 1,000
Only wins earn a score: up to 1,000 points for correct matches, fewer takes, and precise placement. Take your time—there is no speed penalty.
Wrong placements and recasts cost points—even if you undo them. Perfect means getting it right the first time, fast.
The point breakdown
- Matches · up to 600
- 100 per final correct match.
- Takes · up to 200
- Solve in one: 200. Two: 120. Three: 40.
- Placement · up to 100
- −25 per wrong placement; −5 per recast. Swaps can charge for both movies.
- Speed · up to 100
- Full bonus within 15 seconds, then −2 per second until zero at 65 seconds.
Bonuses require a solve and never go below zero. Only time with the game on screen counts. Switching tabs or apps pauses the clock, as do answer checks. It stops on a solve or your third take.

Need a little help?
Use up to three Director’s notes per round. Each places a movie in its correct category and marks it correct. Each costs 150 points from your final Cast Score. You still need to finish the puzzle, and a daily win still keeps your streak going.

Which movies count?
Only confirmed US public releases at least 14 days old. Decade clues use the movie’s original release date.
