How to play.
Match six movies to six categories. You have three checks.
Make your matches
- Play. Reveal the six movies. The timer is optional and never affects your score.
- Place. Drag a movie to a category, or tap a movie and a category in either order.
- Check. Green fits. Red needs a recast. You get three checks: your first attempt plus two retries. After the second failed check, you still have one left. Only the third failed check ends the round and reveals the answers.
Use every movie once. A film may fit several clues, so think about the whole lineup. Change your lineup before checking again. Moving movies, Undo, and hints don’t use a check.
Moving & undoing
Move a placed movie to swap it, or drag it back to unassign it. Clear wrong clears red matches and keeps green ones. Green movies can still move.
Undo reverses a move or clear, not a submitted take. Keyboard: Tab to a movie, press Enter or Space, then activate a category.
Aim for 1,000
Arrange and undo freely. Only a submitted check or a hint can change your score. Take as long as you like.
In library puzzles, open Director’s note after your first check for one free reasoning nudge. It helps you reconsider that checked lineup. It places no movie and costs no points. Your shared result says when you used it.
Solve in one check for 1,000 points, two for 850, or three for 700. Each hint costs 150 points. A loss has no score.
The point breakdown
- Matches · 600
- 100 per final correct match, awarded on a solve.
- Check bonus · up to 400
- First check: 400. Second: 250. Third: 100.
- Hints · −150 each
- Each hint places one correct match. You can use up to three. Undo never refunds a hint.
The optional timer does not affect your score. Turn it on in More options to include time in your result and share.
Continuing an older round?
Saved rounds keep their original scoring: 600 for matches, up to 200 for checks, and up to 200 for placement. Wrong placements cost 50 placement points and recasts cost 10, even after Undo. The board identifies these older rounds. New rounds use the free-arrangement rules above.

Choose Challenge a friend after a round to send that exact puzzle and your result. Your friend can compare checks, hints and nudge use after playing. Replays are labeled. Each person’s progress saves in their own browser; comparisons do not notify the sender.
Need a little help?
Open Director’s note and choose Place a correct match for a reveal hint. You can use up to three reveal hints per round. Each places a movie in its correct category and costs 150 points from your final Cast Score. You still need to finish the puzzle, and a daily win still keeps your streak going.

Which movies count?
The puzzles use released films. Decade clues use the movie’s original release date, not a later re-release.
